Apocalypse Now is a war movie based on “heart
of Darkness” by joseph Conrad but using the script in the Vietnam War. The
movie was done in 1979 by Francis Ford Coppola as Director and producer. The
main actors were Marlon Brando, Martin sheen, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper,
Harrison Ford, and Frederic Forrest. This movie won 2 Oscar awards for “best photography”
and “best sound” but also had 6 nominations; “best director”, “best adapted script”
and others. In 2001 the director, presented “Apocalypse Now redux” the longest
version of the movie with 3 and half hours of duration.
The movie talks about Captain Willard, who was
sent to Vietnam, to look for coronel Kurt and kill him. Willard lived in the
jungle many bad situations which affected him and resembling him in a similar
man who he had to kill.
Martin Sheen was the actor who performed Captain
Willard and Marlon Brando as Coronel Kurtz. The movie showed many real
important about the Vietnam War and the reality lived by many soldiers in that
time. About the techniques, the movie was realized in Philippines Island. They tried
to show the real places in the war. The music was important because it had
coherence with the situation, for example; in the movie sometimes showed funny
situations and the music was the Rolling stones. The scenes showed the actor
clearly and the effects were real and clear.
In general, the movie scenes were really strong
but, at the same time were real and showed in a little part the survival by
soldiers in Vietnam
